As we are studying World War II and the effects of war upon children, Year 6 have decided to have World War Two end of topic activity days (beginning 16th July)

We would also like your child to come to school dressed as an evacuee child for three days. We certainly do not expect you to purchase new clothes for this. Be creative – turn an old pair of trousers into shorts! Due to all of the topic work, your child  should have a very good idea of how WW2 children dressed. The outfit they wore to Beamish would be ideal.

Examples of clothing:

Boys:

  • short trousers (perhaps school uniform trousers)
  • shirt
  • tank top
  • flat cap
  • knee high socks
  • plimsolls or lace up shoes

Girls:

  • summer dress
  • skirt
  • blouse
  • knee high socks
  • hair in pigtails
  • plimsolls or lace up shoes

On Wednesday 18th July we are holding a VE party to commemorate the end of WW2. We are providing a traditional tea party and we ask for a donation of £2 to help with this.

Any other donations, such as bunting or table cloths, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your support.
